Cathedral Catholic Academy offers a solid curriculum in Religion, Reading/Literature, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies with additional classes in Japanese, Music, Computer, Hawaiian Studies, and P.E. At the core of all our teaching and learning is the mission and philosophy of Catholic education, ultimate union with God through the teachings and life of Jesus Christ. We strongly believe in multi-sensory education, and our small class sizes enable us to facilitate learning using a variety of methods, such as the Slingerland/Orton-Gillingham approaches to spelling and writing, cooperative learning groups, and many opportunities for "hands-on" experiences. To enrich the learning taking place in the classroom, students participate in field trips as well as having guest speakers/instructors invited to the school. The faculty, as well as the Student Council, plans many activities that allow the students to interact across grade levels and ages. Students and teachers plan prayer services and liturgical experiences to bring the entire school community closer to God and to each other. Parents are invited to participate in all activities and we welcome their expertise and help whenever possible and appropriate. |
